Hello! I’m so glad you are interested in helping your student thrive in their schoolwork. My name is Carly, and I have a decade of teaching experience in a wide variety of subjects, including reading, writing, spelling, ESL, Latin, math, history, dance, music, and more.  I also have in-depth experience teaching children with learning differences and neurodevelopmental conditions. My goal is to help your student gain a rich understanding of God’s creation through academics. I come beside you and your student to help them master schoolwork at their pace. I work one-on-one with your student, guiding them gently through the material to achieve full comprehension. 

What does a tutoring session look like?

I mold my tutoring format to best fit with you and your student’s needs. I usually follow a system of mastery that looks like this:

1. I explain the concept in detail, using examples and talking through every step.
2. I write out an example problem/assignment and model how to work through it while the student asks questions.
3. The student works through a problem/assignment while I ask questions.
4. The student explains the concept while working through a problem.

This method follows the pattern: I do, I explain; I do, you question; you do, I question, you do, you explain.

I have found this system to be an incredibly effective mastery tool. Depending on the concept and your student’s needs and preferences, we may complete all four steps in one session, or split them up into multiple sessions. Your student receives one-on-one instruction to perfectly fit their needs, and you choose the day, time, and location of the sessions to best align with your schedule.
